Must get a post in for September.

It hasn't been a wonderful month.

My dear nephew lost his battle with cancer and things don't get much worse than this. I was seven when he was born and became an aunt so although he was too close in age to really be the next generation, it felt like it. I am just very pleased his diagnosis happened after my sister's demise. It would have killed her to lose her son like this. His sisters have had a few horrible years.

To add to that news, my fibro has been as bad as it ever was. And today even worse than that, even laying down in bed is intolerable. The only way is up.

And on the upside I have finished quilting the giant quilt. I haven't bound it yet. Quite honestly I am scared because there is no where to lay it down and square it off.... All ideas on squaring a quilt without having floor space welcome. (by the way libraries in the UK are not open to this like they seem to be in the USA). It lies sadly neglected in the unused sitting room.

So copping out of that decision until I feel in less pain, I have gone back to the hexagon quilt. The top of the square has been appliqued down, the right hand side has been loosely prepped. The other two sides are just roughly pinned but will not be prepped until the second side is down.
Sorry it is just draped over a sofa.

  1. Sorry to hear your sad news and that you've been suffering again.
You have made a beautful job of the quilt and am sure you will find an answer to blocking it somewhere.
I'm looking forward to seeing when you exhibit it.
    Take care

  2. I too am sorry for your loss.
My arthritis seems to get worse as the weather gets colder.
Have you considered a church hall or a local football club for table space? I am spoiled since I have a large quilt room and two 8 ft tables for the stretching out and squaring up.

  3. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, Sally, and of your fibro making you so uncomfortable — though "uncomfortable" seems a very weak word. Your quilt is glorious — what an achievement!

  4. So sorry for your loss, Sally. And distressed about your fibro too. Prayers being said for you. If a library has no such space - how about a church hall? They might let you do it with some of the tables they have there for functions. Just a thought. Blessings,

  8. I am sorry for your loss and for your pain. I guess it must feel worse on top of such sadness.

Your quilt is simply beautiful. Could you not use a village hall?

    Hope you feel better soon.
