I love the quilting process

I find it easier (and faster) to freemotion quilt straight lines. It really doesn't matter if you stray off the line an eighth of an inch or so as once the marks are washed out, they look fine.
Then a little feathering is even faster.
Going round each little bit of applique takes time and patience.
For my hand work right now, I am appliqueing stems, loads of them...

Twenty seven years ago today, after 47 hours of labour and multiple miscarriages and different fertility treatments and IVF, Felicity Hope Bramald made me a mother. Happy Birthday Fliss!
This montage is her life up to 18 years old.

  1. Sally, your quilting is always amazing. Thank you for sharing. I have forgotten, so would you refresh my memory as to what machine and set-up you have for machine quilting? I can't imagine what it would be like not to have experienced having children. They are truly a gift from God. They are so precious to us and the same is true of grandchildren :)

  3. You do beautiful work! And speaking for those of us with no children of our own... I am the favorite auntie for nieces, nephews, grandnieces and many others whom I borrow. I love them all and I can return them when needed :)

  4. Belated Happy Birthday to Fliss. I didn't realise how near in age she was to my Sam. His birthday is the 27th. and he will be 27.
Our infertility came after that and treatments to no avail. But we are very glad for him.
