Perhaps I should have looked the photos first.
I had finished the central star and re auditioned background fabrics for it.
In the photos I feel the red lloks best.
However in daylight the royal blue looks stunning and I had planned more of this in the borders. So I went ahead and was quite pleased.
Then awake at 4.30am I took another look, it was dire. On waking a 2nd time it also looked bad so the plan for today was a lot of unpicking and redoing the central star to remove the royal dot (or royal pain in the backside).
Then after my shower I opened the curtains and it looked good again.
Quilting is supposed to be stress relieving isn't it....?
I like the blue, especially if you are going to use it in the border :-)
ReplyDeleteThe royal and red were my favorites. I think the final result with the royla looks great and will sparkle even more with more of it repeated in the border. I LOVE this quilt!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Jess. The blue adds a contrast which makes it zing. The red is nice too, but gives a flatter feeling to the piece. I would say if you were going to add the dark blue in the border then it would look stunning, and lead the eye from one to the other giving symmetry and harmony. It's difficult not to focus on the bit youre doubtful about - you seem to see nothing else! - but coming at it objectively, as any of us might, it tones in well. In other words (long way around) I like the blue!!
ReplyDeleteI am no expert but I like the red. I like red in general. The blue does not look bad at all and I would not take it out. I would continue with the blue useing it in the border will make it sing.
ReplyDeleteMy 2 cents is for the royal blue. Although I would like to say that the whole thing is going to stunning when you are done.
ReplyDeleteI like the red,but i might be biased since im in red phase...you can still have it in the border since it is in the star itself it is going to be a stunning quilt, can't wait to see it.
