I have been playing with a different shape for the vase. I feel my 30s fabrics fight the Art Deco shape of the pattern. I quite like this one.
I did wonder for a very short time about adding handles to the vase, luckily this thought came and went with the breeze.
Those of you who looked at my Pinterest page a couple of posts ago might have noticed I pinned this bird. I could not resist temptation and bought one for the conservatory whilst they had 20% off.
I like having birds round the house, this one got left behind after Christmas, I love it hanging from these twigs. (Why is it, there is always on Christmas decoration which doesn't make it back into the loft with the rest?
Sally, I like the vase with the handle too! I really like the applique design, would love to see the whole cloth. Is it your own design? I love that you have Christmas ornaments that haven't made it back to the storage room! I still have a swag hanging from the dining room curtains that I forgot to take down after Christmas. Complete with decorations hanging from it, and red and white hears between the 'scallops'. Lol.

Me again, just re-read my comment, and it didn't read correctly...I meant that I like the vase without the handle, but I also like it with the handle. 'Without' is elegant, 'with' is somewhat old-fashioned looking, but with a certain je ne sais quoi.

You're going to want to delete my comments before the page runs out of room!...I just realised that the applique you are doing is Esther's! Quite appropriate that the word verification for this post is 'dum-ant'... lol.
ReplyDeleteHello Sally, I agree that your chosen fabrics call out for a different shaped vase. It looks good both ways.
ReplyDelete(Also, My Carolling Penguins didn't make it back into their box and are happily standing on the fireplace mantle!)
Your vase looks great. It's nice that you are making it your own to suit your fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI received a reminder email from you today -pinterest...and I think I am going to give in, I can't help myself, even though I know I don't need another distraction.
Your new birds have won me!
Sally I like the handle too. Lovely lovely 1930's fabrics your blocks are so soft. I'm zapping lots of my 1930 unmade up blocks in my new Foodsaver plastic at present?????? Hopping they will be safer there till I make them up into quilts. Hugs
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you left the handles off, the vase is far more elegant without them. Lovely bird, I was very nearly tempted but needed to save my money for FOQ!
ReplyDeleteI like the handles off too. Love the fabric and softness of your quilt.
